Atkinson and Clarke Educational Foundation

The Atkinson and Clarke Educational Foundation is designed to promote educational opportunities for young people living in the Parish Council areas of Patrick Brompton and Newton-Le Willows. It was established in 1930 and combines the Foundations of Samuel Atkinson, founded in 1707, Samuel Clarke, founded in 1707, and William Atkinson, founded in 1845.

The trustees are responsible for giving financial assistance for educational purposes.
​They meet  four times a year and applications must be received by the Treasurer by the 20th January, 10th May, 10th September and 10th November in any year.

The Schoolroom in Patrick Brompton

The Foundation also owns the Old Schoolroom in Patrick Brompton.

​The building can be hired for all events by individuals or the community at a very reasonable rate of £7 per hour.
It has a small kitchen with  a microwave, and crockery/cutlery, along with modern toilet facilities, and a number of tables and chairs.It can accommodate up to 55 people. WiFi access is available. A portable assisted access ramp is also available.

​The building closed as a school in September 1922.  The Headteacher at the time of closure was Miss Maude Atkin Following closure, the children transferred to the primary schools at Newton Le Willows  and Constable Burton, both now closed.
