About Cornerstone Care
CORNERSTONE PASTORAL CARE As a Church, we’re committed to revealing Christ to others in the way we care for one another. There are many in our community who visit and help their neighbours in times of need and we’d like to affirm this invaluable work. It’s often the case, however, that people find it difficult to talk to friends and family about issues that are really troubling them, such as loneliness, fear, a deep sense of loss, problems with relationships, etc. Cornerstone, a church initiative, is here to provide a ‘listening ministry’ within a safe, accepting and confidential environment. Our aim is to give emotional and spiritual support to church members and the wider community. We also offer help and information concerning practical matters such as shopping, transport, odd jobs, etc. Penny Johnson. |
Our Ethos |
A policy has been created, which sets out a code of ethics and good practice and states clearly the need for boundaries and confidentiality. A referral list has also been devised with contacts for professional and voluntary organisations.
The pastoral team includes those who’ve had training in ‘active listening’ and who collectively have experience of: Hospital and Prison Chaplaincy, the Samaritans, Counselling and Nursing. All volunteers are insured and checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS – formerly CRB). Cornerstone cards can be found in the pews and at the back of your church. Please feel free to take one away with you. |
